Wanted to stress a little that it's important to be careful with automatic submission services. Some of them may claim that they will get you 3,000+ links free and I did see cases when that decreased ranking by Google and Yahoo. Not all links are good and search engines may even get you to a black list if you will try to abuse their ranking system. While you definitely should have your site submitted to major search engines and to well known web directories, you need to know that most valuable links to your site are “one way” links from popular sites which are relevant to your niche.
